Monday night, we listened to a few CDs. First off was Arnhem Land Popular Classics. It's field recordings, very beautiful. I was totally entranced by the first track, to the point where I had to leave the room when the second one came on so I could write down the base rhythm. More about that in a later post about rhythms. The performer produced some beautiful vocals and variations on the rhythm that are something to study if you're trying to answer the question "how do I take a plain old rhythm and turn it into music?"
Then we listened to a track or two from Ondrej Smeykal's "Didgeridoo Solo" CD, available from L.A. Outback. If you like techno, you'll like this.
